About Us
About us:
ADROIT is an Erasmus+ KA220 Cooperation Partnership project in Adult Education designed to strengthen the capacity of adult learning systems to respond to the accelerating impact of digital transformation on civic participation and democratic engagement. Across Europe, adult learners and educators are increasingly confronted with complex digital environments that shape how information is accessed, shared, and interpreted. While digital technologies offer significant opportunities for participation and inclusion, they also raise challenges related to misinformation, digital literacy, and unequal access to civic engagement tools.
ADROIT emerges as a structured European response to these challenges, aiming to support adult education systems in navigating digital transformation with confidence, responsibility, and inclusiveness.
The project is grounded in the understanding that digital transformation is not only technological but also social and democratic, reshaping how citizens engage with institutions, participate in decision-making, and exercise their rights. In many contexts, adult learners lack opportunities to develop the skills needed to critically assess digital information, engage in online civic spaces, and contribute meaningfully to democratic processes. At the same time, educators often lack the tools and methodologies required to teach these competences effectively.
ADROIT addresses this gap by promoting a holistic approach to digital civic education, combining digital skills development with critical thinking, ethical awareness, and participatory learning methods.
At its core, ADROIT supports both educators and learners:
It strengthens educators’ capacity to design and deliver digital civic education using innovative and inclusive methodologies.
It equips adult learners with the competences needed to understand digital environments, engage in democratic dialogue, and participate actively in society.
ADROIT adopts a collaborative and transnational methodology, bringing together organisations with expertise in adult education, digital learning, social inclusion, and civic engagement. Through research, co-creation, and pilot activities, the partnership develops practical tools and resources tailored to real needs.
Key project activities include:
- Research and analysis on digital civic participation
- Development of the Digital Democracy Library, an interactive learning platform
- Implementation of Democracy Labs for training and experimentation
- Creation of educational modules and civic engagement tools
- Dissemination and impact activities across Europe
All project outputs are designed as open and accessible resources, ensuring long-term usability and wider impact beyond the partnership.
Ultimately, ADROIT contributes to strengthening democratic participation, digital resilience, and social inclusion in Europe. Empowering educators and learners alike, the project supports adult education systems in fostering active citizenship, critical thinking, and informed engagement in the digital age.
